mascarpone night

May 4, 2008 at 12:09 , by [n][i][x]

I see a tub of mascarpone in my fridge. it says ’1 kg’.that’s a lot considering i don’t know what to do with it. when i bought it last month, it was to whip up a lemon filling for my first attempt (ever!) to bake macarons.

At Supasave, and ONLY at Supasave can you find such cheeses as mascarpone… but they didn’t stock smaller proportions when i was desperately seeking for it. Now, a month later, i see smaller tubs of it and i go ‘NOOOOOoooOoo…’ -_- So that’s $33 worth of cheese that now sits quietly in my fridge. I really only ended up using about 7 tablespoons of it for the lemon macaron venture. *note to self: write about lemon macarons one of these days*

___________________ 9.30 pm – asked husby to drive me to Hua Hor. I’ve decided to make tiramisu out of the lonely mascarpone. So we went, kinda late-night shopping seeing the store closes at 10. It didn’t help that I couldn’t find my way around that particular branch *grumble* So i went round and round looking for cocoa powder, while P waits in the basement parking. After getting my stuff, there was an announcement thanking all shoppers and asking them to leave! I hurried over to the cashiers, and saw that there were piles of stuff from other shoppers in front of me! WHY can’t they close later?! So yes. The cashier was pissed cos the lady in front of me was making a hassle out of some purchase. COULD NOT be bothered. I had tiramisu in my head. – making mental notes on ways of executing the whole process of making the Italian dessert. I see myself licking the bowl already *slobber*

3.32 am – Ho yea. I am still up thanks to eating a one-hour chilled tiramisu portion. Husby liked the smell of the kitchen tonight, cos let’s face it, he’s extremely partial to coffee. We discussed what Janice Dickinson said today in her show that coffee messes up your vitamin B’s or something and that it’s a major cause of why people can and do get nauseas drinking coffee due its acidity. P says he doesn’t although there were moments when he makes pregnant-woman/ morning-sickness sounds. hehehe.

Oh yes, i tend to digress too much. The tiramisu is what I want to talk about. It was pure delisioucity! Very basic recipe, very ad-hoc ingredients (since we don’t DO alcohol and we didn’t find any ladyfingers at Hua Hor). Still, it was very-the-nice. The Hersheys chocolate syrup that I garnished the tiramisu with is simply fantabulous!

fantabulousity.

So it’s a done deal. Mascarpone used, delicious 2 am dessert,…..

and I can’t sleep!!

P/S: Channel V has been airing Janice Dickinson the whole day today. and tonight. I am still watching the reruns right now. Janice defies the stereotypes of an ageing person. Someone should write a phD in Sociology of the body/sexuality/age on her as a case. *groan. sleep you fool! sleep!*
