Ouh, fudge!

A last minute order for cupcakes where I was given the liberty to pick an (previously) unlisted flavour. Of course, chocolate is always a winner ^_^. So on with Chocolate Fudge with chocolate buttercream. I’d have to say that my diet is officially screwed because of this cupcake. The fudge is very moist but dense enough to choke your throat. You know how it is, don’t you? The buttercream is from Berenbaum’s recipe which I last used in the Caramel cake order. You can hardly taste the cheese because the melted chocolate overpowers the taste; and I made sure I melted in a smaller proportion of dark chocolate along with milk chocolate.

Simple rolled fondant to top on most of the cupcakes, including two 3D Mr. Elefantay figurines ^_^ The rest were simple piped buttercream rosettes. The first thing I heard from P was “mmm! Mmm!” upon his first bite of a cupcake. That’s always a good sign. My mum also loved it, she said she quite enjoyed the buttercream. Shazaym!! The fact that I’ve finally impressed my mum with self-cooked food has earned me a bright yellow feather on my metaphorical cap! but really, having used melted chocolate, the fudge cupcakes aren’t sweet at all… just nice with a bittery kick that all chocaholics appreciate (I assume); and just nice for people in this country who, thanks to their comments on macarons, “tend to not like sweet things” (booo~).

Perhaps next time I’ll decorate the cupcakes with flooded royal icing for a more 3D effect, Peggy Porschen style. I’d leave the rolled fondant figurines to the other well known cupcake bakers for now ^_^

Box of 16 with 8 non-exhausting fondant = $20.
Fudgey chocolate & Mr. Elefantay = priceless.
